Step Up Your Practice
Professional Development Workshop for Early-Career Nutritionists
Saturday, 28 March 2026 | 10am - 4pm
Health and well-being have become central to public discourse. As awareness grows, dietitians and nutritionists are expected not only to provide scientifically sound dietary guidance, but also to communicate with clarity, counsel with ethical responsibility, and build trust in an environment where misinformation is widespread.
“Step Up Your Practice” is a one-day professional development workshop designed to bridge the gap between academic training and professional practice.
Postgraduate education builds strong technical knowledge. However, the transition from student to professional requires competencies that are rarely part of the formal curriculum — particularly in diet counselling, where cultural sensitivity, communication skills, and professional presence are essential.
This workshop aims to strengthen communication, counselling effectiveness, leadership awareness, and self-reflection among early-career nutrition professionals, thereby enhancing both career progression and the quality of client engagement.
Eligibility
• Final-year M.Sc. students in Nutrition & Dietetics / Clinical Nutrition
• Graduates (M.Sc. or PG Diploma) with less than five years post-graduation (completed in 2021 or later)
Workshop Focus
The program addresses practical counselling techniques, clarity in scientific communication, active listening, leadership skills, ethical boundaries, and professional conduct. Participants will engage via role-plays, guided discussions, and case-based learning relevant to hospital, corporate, and independent practice settings. Sessions will also address interview preparedness, preventive health positioning, and emerging career pathways beyond becoming a hospital dietitian.
Facilitators:
Ms Sheela Krishnaswamy, 40+ experience in nutrition counselling across clinical, communication and corporate, former newspaper columnist
Dr Megha, 20+ years in science communication

Coexistence Mela
A major milestone for our Coexistence Fellowship Programme, this event will showcase the work and the vision of this unique Programme. It brings together the indigenous communities our Coexistence Fellows work with, folk artists, and filmmakers to showcase the nuanced ways in which people relate with nature. Through a combination of performances, film screenings and exhibits, it hopes to bring these rarely heard stories and themes from all over India to a common platform, with the hope that through this joint celebration of our diverse and unique relationships with nature, we can reconnect to our roots and continue to co-adapt and co-evolve with our non-human cohabitants.
