The Food Futures Champions program at TDU encourages the way today’s youth and tomorrow’s leaders think about the science of good health.
Remember asking yourself that question in science classes a teen? Our experiential learning workshop, Food Futures Champions provide a one-of-a kind opportunity for students to experience for themselves that yes, it does. An interdisciplinary approach is in the DNA of what we do, where science goes beyond the classroom and teaches us to ask the right questions in our lives.
The Food Futures Champions program offers the following opportunities:
· Grow your own food forests comprising wild edibles with documented traditional use and phytonutrient diversity.
· Learn about how scientists engineer nutrition in our state-of-the-art labs.
· Have your very own Master Chef experience in our fully equipped test kitchen, where you will learn how science can determine taste.
· Planetary health, societal health and individual health are intimately connected. Hear from our expert practitioners on how we address all aspects of the food chain at TDU.
· At TDU, we accord equal weight to the different ways of knowing, i.e. both indigenous knowledge and modern science, while trying to achieve a synthesis of both.
