Ayurveda Dietetics Program

Our program at TDU works at the intersection of Ayurveda, nutrition science, food systems, and translational health research.


We collaborate with hospitals, NGOs, schools and colleges, food companies and researchers, to deliver evidence-informed approaches to traditional food knowledge, dietary communication, and integrative dietetics

Established in 2020 with credit courses for dietitians, the Ayurveda Dietetics group has evolved into an interdisciplinary platform bringing together Ayurveda experts, food researchers, dietitians and clinicians.


The group is currently led by Dr Megha, Associate Professor, Centre for Ayurveda Biology and Holistic Nutrition. Her work focuses on building meaningful dialogue between Ayurvedic dietary frameworks and contemporary nutrition science.


The program has evolved into three distinct areas. One, providing authentic verifiable ayurvedic information and training in integrative nutrition. Two, research in food knowledge, ayur-ahaar food supplements and diets to address cancer-related malnutrition. Three, addressing community food and nutrition security empowerment through their own traditional food knowledge on medicinal plants, food ingredients and recipes, facilitated by documentation and digitisation.


Our group can assist you in curriculum development, scientific communication, and advisory collaborations relating to food systems, dietary behaviour, and culturally contextual public health nutrition. We are also open to bespoke analysing canteen/ hostel meal plans, menu planning for personal events and providing digitisation services to record your family’s traditional food recipes.
