From Python Basics to Biological Data Analysis and Visualization
A Hands-on Training Program for Bioinformatics
13th, 14th & 15th/16th November 2026 - 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm
Program Overview
Python is a versatile programming language widely used in modern biology, biotechnology, bioinformatics, genomics, and biomedical research. It enables researchers to efficiently process biological datasets, automate repetitive tasks, perform exploratory data analysis, and generate meaningful visualizations.
This workshop is designed to introduce participants to Python programming and its applications in biological data analysis. Through a structured, hands-on approach, participants will progress from Python fundamentals to numerical computing with NumPy, dataset manipulation using Pandas, data cleaning, exploratory data analysis, and visualization using Matplotlib.
The workshop emphasizes practical learning through real biological datasets, helping participants develop the foundational programming and analytical skills required to work with biological data.
Learning Objectives
By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
Understand Python fundamentals and write basic programs for biological applications.
Perform numerical operations using NumPy.
Load, manipulate, filter, and analyze datasets using Pandas.
Clean and preprocess biological data for downstream analysis.
Perform exploratory data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and outliers.
Create publication-ready visualizations using Matplotlib.
Interpret analytical results and communicate biological insights using data-driven approaches.
Understand how Python can be applied to bioinformatics and life sciences research.
