Shivakumar C.M.is a Ph.D. student with a distinguished career in forestry, wildlife conservation, and environmental policy. Currently serving as Research Coordinator at the Institute of Wood Science and Technology, Bengaluru, he oversees over 60 research projects that align with national forestry priorities and foster interdisciplinary collaboration. His doctoral dissertation focuses on tiger conservation in India, addressing the socio-economic impacts of conservation-induced relocation through the Voluntary Village Relocation (VVR) framework. The study evaluates the well-being of relocated communities, examines factors influencing their willingness to relocate, and analyzes governance mechanisms to ensure equitable outcomes. With advanced degrees including an M.S. in Natural Resources from Auburn University and multiple postgraduate qualifications, he has received numerous accolades such as the U.S. Tiger University Consortium Fellowship and a Gold Medal in M.Sc. (Agriculture). His work attempts to bridge ecological sustainability and socio-economic development, contributing to inclusive conservation policies.
