She is an Ethnobotanist and a Researcher. Inclined strongly towards: 'Plants-People-Culture'.  She begun her career at  FRLHT / TDU, Bengaluru in 1998.


Her 26 years professional journey  revolves around these areas: Biodiversity, Medicinal plants conservation, Indian Medicinal Plants Database  and Informatics, plants authentication, Pharmacognosy, National and regional level Demand and Supply of Medicinal Plants Traded, IUCN threat assessment for conservation action, Local Health Traditions, IKS and conservation education.

She as Principal Investigator, with her team has been managing  a few notable Government/ CSR supported projects at national ( ENVIS MoEF&CC,  BRIC- DBT, NMPB..) and state levels (SMPB), Regional ( DALHT -ETC Compas). She was associated with TDU-Kew's Medicinal Plants Nomenclature Services project.

She has to her credit more than hundred scientific papers, technical and semi technical publications. She has been an Editor ( The Medplant Newsletter, ENViS-MoEF&CC) and reviewers of notable journals.

She is a member for various bodies such as: IUCN SSC ( MPSG), BoS ( Nrupatunga University), State Biodiversity Boards ( MP, KA) and more. Apart from Academic, Research & Scientific Advisory roles for IKS AICTE, Startups). She  enjoys engaging in mentoring students, popular science writing, biodiversity watch....
