Nishant Srinivasaiah

Dr. Nishant Srinivasaiah is a leading researcher on Asian elephant behaviour, conservation policy, and human–elephant conflict mitigation. His work bridges science, governance, and community engagement across southern India.
Dr. Nishant Srinivasaiah is a behavioural ecologist whose work focuses on elephants and the complexities of human–elephant coexistence across its range countries. With over 16 years of field-based research experience, he has led and contributed to studies on elephant movement, decision-making, conservation governance and conflict mitigation across protected and human-dominated landscapes. Nishant holds a PhD from the National Institute of Advanced Studies, Bangalore and an MSc in Wildlife Biology and Conservation from NCBS–TIFR. He is an Assistant Professor at The University of Trans-Disciplinary Health Sciences and Technology (TDU) with the Coexistence Studies Group, a Senior Scientist at the Foundation for Ecological Research Advocacy and Learning, a Research Associate with the Karnataka Wildlife and Technical Cell of the Karnataka Forest Department and Adjunct Faculty at NIAS. A member of the IUCN–SSC Asian Elephant Specialist Group and recipient of multiple conservation awards, he continues to integrate science, policy and community engagement to advance long-term elephant conservation.
