Nachiket Shankar, a molecular geneticist and computational biologist interested in applying systems biology and large-scale multi-omic data to dissect transcriptional regulatory networks in microbial and single-cell eukaryotic organisms. My work integrates high-throughput sequencing, single-cell transcriptomics, and epigenomic profiling to uncover regulatory mechanisms that shape cellular behavior and host–microbe interactions. I am driven by the challenge of translating complex datasets into clear, testable biological insights
Nachiket Shankar earned his Ph.D. in Molecular, Cellular, and Organismal Biology from the University of Massachusetts Boston, where he investigated plant–microbe interactions through metagenomics, statistical genetics, and data-driven ecosystem selection studies. He holds a B.Tech. in Biotechnology from MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology, affiliated with Visvesvaraya Technological University, and has research experience from the National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS), Bangalore. Currently, he is a Postdoctoral Fellow in Computational Biology at the Center for Personalized Cancer Therapy, UMass Boston at the Kourosh Zarringhalam lab exploring transcriptional gene regulatory networks in Apicomplexan parasites Toxoplasma gondii.
