Dr. Haridasan is a botanist and biodiversity conservationist with a Ph.D. from North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong, and over four decades of experience in floristic research, medicinal plant conservation, forest research, and bioresource management across Northeast India and South India.
Currently Consultant (Bio Resources) at Green Ahalia, Palakkad, he leads initiatives in biodiversity conservation and sustainable development through thematic gardens, research, education, and outreach, with recognition including the Kerala State Biodiversity Award 2022, Van Mitra Award, and BGCI affiliation.
Over 40 years of biodiversity research and application has worked on survey collection, conservation, Propagation and nursery management, thematic garden development and nurturing student development and fostering research and development. Active in leadership and managing team work for effective implementation.
A Well known botanist and biodiversity conservationist with a Ph.D. from North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong, for his research on the Forest Flora of Meghalaya. He served with the Forest Department of Arunachal Pradesh and was associated with the establishment of the State Forest Research Institute (SFRI), Itanagar. His work in the Eastern Himalaya included extensive floristic exploration and the establishment of herbaria, Bambusetum, Arboretum, Seed orchards, Germplasm banks and Medicinal plant gardens. He has published over 70 research papers and authored/co-authored eight books, manuals and information bulletins.
In 2004, joined FRLHT, Bengaluru, where he worked on initiatives in medicinal plant conservation, ethnomedicinal gardens, propagation, training and capacity building. He has supervised Ph.D. research and served as a reviewer for universities and journals.
Currently, as Consultant (Bio Resources) at Ahalia Foundation, Palakkad, he leads Green Ahalia’s initiatives in biodiversity conservation and sustainable development through thematic gardens, research, education and outreach. PG students are mentored for internship projects. Green Ahalia has received the Kerala State Biodiversity Award 2022, Van Mitra Award and BGCI affiliation.
Dr. Haridasan, is a Ph.D from North Eastern Hill University Shillong for his work in Forest Flora of Meghalaya has worked with the Forest department of Arunachal Pradesh and involved in establishment of the first ever State Forest Research Institute in the region. Serving SFRI got opportunity to travel widely and explore many of the unexplored and underexplored locations in northeast region of India focussing on Eastern Himalaya especially Arunachal Pradesh. I had opportunity to establish the Herbarium, Bambusetum, Arboretum, Seed orchards, Germplasm banks and Medicinal plant garden has been significant. Luckily I am now acknowledged as one of the few experts in the flora of north east India. Could publish over 70 research papers and 8 books, information bulletins and manuals. The manuals are on propagation and cultivation of Bamboos, Propagation and cultivation of canes (Rattans) and propagation and cultivation of medicinal plants.
