Dr. Balaji Rathod is a dedicated microbiologist and researcher specializing in microbial biotechnology, drug discovery, and fermentation science. His work focuses on identifying and characterizing novel bioactive molecules from microbial sources, including antimicrobial, anticancer, immunomodulatory, and anti-diabetic compounds such as pimprinethine from Streptomyces spp. He has hands-on experience with assay development, optimization, and analytical methods, as well as practical exposure to pharmacovigilance processes, case assessment, signal detection, and quality review. Dr. Rathod is also actively involved in integrating artificial intelligence into drug development pipelines, fermentation optimization, and bioactive discovery, contributing to innovative approaches in biotechnology research. His interests extend to developing high-value microbial products, biostimulants, and biocontrol agents, along with exploring applications of AI in fermentation and downstream processing. Committed to teaching and research excellence, he aims to foster the next generation of scientists through practical training and industry-oriented academic programs.
