Heartfelt Congratulations to Dr Padma Gurmet on Being Conferred the Padma Shri Award 2026
The University of Trans-Disciplinary Health Sciences and Technology (TDU) is proud to congratulate Dr Padma Gurmet, Director, National Institute of Sowa-Rigpa, on being selected for the Padma Shri Award 2026, one of India’s highest civilian honours.
Dr. Padma Gurmet is currently pursuing his PhD under the guidance of Dr M. Abdul Kareem, Associate Professor at TDU. His remarkable contributions to the preservation, practice, and global recognition of Sowa-Rigpa (the Tibetan system of medicine) have significantly enriched the field of traditional knowledge and integrative health sciences.
This prestigious recognition reflects his lifelong commitment to advancing indigenous medical systems and strengthening their relevance in contemporary healthcare.
