Public Nutrition, Human Capital and Demographic Dividend
About the Course
India boasts a demographic advantage with 67.3% of its population aged between 15-59 years. This young working population will remain for the next three decades, giving India a comparative edge. However, the potential of at least 50% of this population is hindered by under-nutrition, poor health, and morbidity due to dietary deficits.
Academia and professionals in social development lack educational opportunities to study the causes of undernutrition and micronutrient deficiency comprehensively. This course will enhance understanding of how public health approaches can boost India’s human capital and demographic dividend.
TDU and ACPN, Bangalore are partnering to create a trans-disciplinary course covering the linkages between public nutrition, public health, biology, and public policy. Led by Mrs. Veena Rao, IAS (Retd), ACPN has conducted peer-reviewed studies demonstrating the effectiveness of inter-sectoral approaches to address malnutrition.
It is designed for students and professionals in various sectors like social development, government, non-government, CSR, policy-making, development consultancy, think tanks, and those interested in India-specific perspectives.
