M.Sc. Life Sciences (Ayurveda Biology) is a unique masters' level program for students interested in combining modern biology and Ayurveda perspectives in the life sciences.
The course has 4 semesters spread over two years. In the first year, students are exposed to core courses in biology like molecular biology, biochemistry, cell biology, immunology as well as fundamentals of Ayurveda, medicinal plants taxanomy and pharmacognosy. Both tech (computational biology) and lab courses compliment lectures. Field trips, discussion hours and talks by eminent scientists, physicians and local health practitioners are a regular feature of the coursework. In the second year, students are prepared for undertaking research, followed by a thesis project that is in line with their interests and future plans. A thesis project can be in the clinic, field, lab or industry.
The entire curriculum is designed to promote experiential learning. Course delivery and assessments are fashioned to encourage students to think and apply concepts. Ultimately, the program seeks to empower the student to drive their own learning journey.
Course Eligibility
Students who have qualifications in any of the following disciplines are eligible to enrol for the program.
- B.Sc., any combination of natural sciences
- Medical graduates (MBBS, BAMS, BSMS, BUMS, BSRMS)
- B.Pharm, B.V.Sc., B.Tech / B.E. (Biotechnology)
